I’ve been waiting for this moment for YEARS you guys
I used to let her get on him and walk him around the ring when she was like two and three years old, and some of her first trot lessons were on him, and then we leased him out two years ago and when she for real sobbed when she found out he was gone. I ALWAYS said I wanted him to be her pony, and then he finally came home a few weeks ago and today she rode him and jumped a course on him, including one 2’6 jump, probably the biggest she’s ever jumped before.
like, i used to put her on him in front of me and canter around the ring with her. one time i just held her around her middle and let her hold the reins. she was like two years old then.
one time after i had showed in Aiken i was walking back to the barn and she was with me, so I let her get on scooter bareback because it’s kind of a long walk and i walked all the way back to the barn and when i got there i turned around and she was ASLEEP ON HIS BACK.
like, do you guys understand? once upon a time, this child FELL ASLEEP on this pony and now she’s SEVEN YEARS OLD AND SHE JUMPED A COURSE ON HIM BY HERSELF AND SHE WASN’T EVEN SCARED ONE TIME

I’m like really proud of Bailey, you guys.
so like maybe we came out of the first bending line really tight.
and maybe he trotted into the one-stride, but we still came out in a one, which is like really impressive
and maybe he stopped at the two-stride and then added coming out of it, but he still went to the stonewall with the ferns, which is like the jump from his own personal hell, and jumped it from the canter
and we came down the last seven perfectly fine.
and all in all, jump one was my best jump.
not to mention he hacked like a pro and was very nearly in the ribbons.
so basically I’m super proud of Bailey and I’m looking forward to the handy tomorrow, because that’s where he’s usually the best, I think.
anyway, so concludes today’s update. my body is tired.

I’m in Kentucky if you didn’t know
for Junior Hunter Finals.
We got here late last night and we schooled in the Walnut ring and ticketed in the Stonelea and Bailey was a champ. He feels like he might be brave, even.
anyway. wish me luck for tomorrow and Wednesday. I don’t usually update like this for normal shows but in this case, it’s kind of a big deal. So I figured I should let y’all know.
